Worth It

Worth It
By:Amanda Steinberg
Published on 2017-02-07 by Simon and Schuster

From the founder and superstar CEO of DailyWorth.com, the go-to financial site for women with more than one million subscribers, comes a fresh book that shows women how to view money as a source of personal power and freedom—and live life on their own terms. Millions of women want to create financial stability and abundance in their lives, but they don’t know how. They are stuck in overwhelming confusion and guilt, driven by internalized “money stories” that have nothing to do with what is really possible. As the founder of DailyWorth.com, a financial media and education platform, Amanda Steinberg encounters these smart, ambitious women every day. With this book, she helps them face their financial situations head on and wake up to the prosperity that awaits them. Worth It outlines the essential financial information women need—and everything the institutions and advisors don’t spell out. Steinberg gets to the bottom of why women are stressed and anxious when it comes to their finances and teaches them to stay away from strict budgeting and other harsh austerity practices. Instead, she makes money relatable, while sharing strategies she uses herself to build confidence and ease in her own financial life. Through her first-hand experiences and the stories from other women who’ve woken up, Steinberg’s powerful and encouraging advice can help women of any age and income view money as a source of freedom and independence—and create bright financial futures.

Beating the Street

Beating the Street
By:Peter Lynch
Published on 2012-03-13 by Simon and Schuster

Legendary money manager Peter Lynch explains his own strategies for investing and offers advice for how to pick stocks and mutual funds to assemble a successful investment portfolio. Develop a Winning Investment Strategy—with Expert Advice from “The Nation’s #1 Money Manager.” Peter Lynch’s “invest in what you know” strategy has made him a household name with investors both big and small. An important key to investing, Lynch says, is to remember that stocks are not lottery tickets. There’s a company behind every stock and a reason companies—and their stocks—perform the way they do. In this book, Peter Lynch shows you how you can become an expert in a company and how you can build a profitable investment portfolio, based on your own experience and insights and on straightforward do-it-yourself research. In Beating the Street, Lynch for the first time explains how to devise a mutual fund strategy, shows his step-by-step strategies for picking stock, and describes how the individual investor can improve his or her investment performance to rival that of the experts. There’s no reason the individual investor can’t match wits with the experts, and this book will show you how.

Women & Money

Women & Money
By:Suze Orman
Published on 2007-02-27 by Spiegel & Grau

Why is it that women, who are so competent in all other areas of their lives, cannot find the same competence when it comes to matters of money? Suze Orman investigates the complicated, dysfunctional relationship women have with money in this groundbreaking new book. With her signature mix of insight, compassion, and soul-deep recognition, she equips women with the financial knowledge and emotional awareness to overcome the blocks that have kept them from making more out of the money they make. At the center of the book is The Save Yourself Plan—a streamlined, five-month program that delivers genuine long-term financial security. But what’s at stake is far bigger than money itself: It’s about every woman’s sense of who she is and what she deserves, and why it all begins with the decision to save yourself.

Supply Chain Management For Dummies

Supply Chain Management For Dummies
By:Daniel Stanton
Published on 2017-11-10 by John Wiley & Sons

Everyone can impact the supply chain Supply Chain Management For Dummies helps you connect the dots between things like purchasing, logistics, and operations to see how the big picture is affected by seemingly isolated inefficiencies. Your business is a system, made of many moving parts that must synchronize to most efficiently meet the needs of your customers—and your shareholders. Interruptions in one area ripple throughout the entire operation, disrupting the careful coordination that makes businesses successful; that's where supply chain management (SCM) comes in. SCM means different things to different people, and many different models exist to meet the needs of different industries. This book focuses on the broadly-applicable Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR) Model: Plan, Source, Make, Deliver, Return, and Enable, to describe the basic techniques and key concepts that keep businesses running smoothly. Whether you're in sales, HR, or product development, the decisions you make every day can impact the supply chain. This book shows you how to factor broader impact into your decision making process based on your place in the system. Improve processes by determining your metrics Choose the right software and implement appropriate automation Evaluate and mitigate risks at all steps in the supply chain Help your business function as a system to more effectively meet customer needs We tend to think of the supply chain as suppliers, logistics, and warehousing—but it's so much more than that. Every single person in your organization, from the mailroom to the C-suite, can work to enhance or hinder the flow. Supply Chain Management For Dummies shows you what you need to know to make sure your impact leads to positive outcomes.

Strategies in Personal Finance

Strategies in Personal Finance
By:Keith V. Smith,Jane A. Smith
Published on 2005 by Purdue University Press

Every family should have financial goals for the future. Being unprepared can lead to monetary chaos. Financial Management of Your Future deals with strategies for accomplishing financial goals. What investment returns are necessary to achieve explicit family goals? How are returns logically related to risks for investment opportunities that are considered? Can different families have different tolerances for experiencing investment risk? Why is asset allocation the key investment decision for most families? What are the characteristics and valuations of bonds, stocks, mutual funds, real estate and international securities that a family might consider? How should a family construct, monitor, and revise a portfolio of investments over time? How should careful estate planning be done by a family in order to delay or avoid taxes in passing on property to their children, grandchildren, and favorite charities? And how can some of the concepts and techniques from |modern portfolio theory| be helpful to a family as it attempts to answer these questions? This book deals with financial strategies for three adult age categories: (1) Families of ages twenty to forty in the earlier years of active employment, child raising, and the beginning of saving for retirement; (2) Families of ages forty to sixty in their years of maximum income, high educational expenses for their children, and more serious thinking about forthcoming retirement; and (3) Families of ages sixty to eighty having retired or approaching full retirement.

Personal Finance

Personal Finance
By:George Callaghan,Ian Fribbance,Martin Higginson
Published on 2011-11-04 by Macmillan International Higher Education

Fulfilling the need for a UK-centred introductory personal finance text, this dedicated author team provide academic, professional and general readers with what they really need to know about personal finance. Personal Finance is an innovative text that builds confidence and competence in making personal financial decisions. Using a socio-economic approach to personal finance, it illuminates the many factors and relationships that help improve financial capability, including: * Decisions on spending, borrowing, saving and investing are set within a broader context. * Concepts such as income and expenditure, risk and return, and assets and liabilities are related to issues of home ownership, caring responsibilities and lifestyle changes. * The impact of important economic events, such as the financial crises of recent years, on individuals and households is shown. * Case studies are used to demonstrate practical relevance, while diagrams and activities help distil complex issues into digestible form. 'Keeping a text in this area up to date was always going to be a critical and monumental challenge. The editors have done a timely and impressive job.' – Professor Peter Howells, Centre for Global Finance, UWE Bristol 'Personal Finance addresses a particular gap, and the overview is impressive.' – Steve McKay, Bristol University (Personal Finance Research Centre) 'What distinguishes this book is that it focuses not only on 'what you need to know' about personal finance, but also on 'what you might be interested in knowing' about the socio-economic context in which financial decisions are made – it makes the text more useful for an academic course and certainly makes for interesting reading.' – Jane King, Oxford Brookes University 'Personal Finance presents the subject of financial planning in an intellectually stimulating way which links theory to practice and is comprehensible to both the student and the layperson.' – James Mallon, Napier University
